Privacy Policy
Short version: your tag photo is read in memory on our server and deleted as soon as the answer is sent back. We never store it. We set no cookies and do not track you. The only thing we count is an anonymous usage statistic that cannot be linked to you.
Who we are
Laundry Symbols (laundrysymbols.app) is a free care label scanner run by 1000 Ventures. Contact: michael@1000ventures.io.
Your photo
When you pick or take a photo, your browser shrinks it to at most 2048 pixels on the long side and sends it to our server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. The server finds the care symbols, reads them and sends back what they mean. The photo is held only in the server's memory while this happens and is discarded right after. It is never written to disk, saved in a database, logged, shared or used to train our models.
Our server is hosted by Render (render.com) in the United States. Like any web host, Render handles the connection, including your IP address, to deliver the page. We do not keep request logs with your photo or your IP address.
Anonymous usage statistics
When you use the tool, we count that use in an anonymous, aggregate statistic. Each count contains only the event (for example that a result was shown and its top-level category), a country-level location, your device type and the hour it happened. We store no IP address, set no cookies and attach no identifier of any kind, so no count can be linked to you. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we do not count anything at all.
We also note, in one word, where a visit came from: a search engine, an AI assistant, one of our other sites, a social network or no referrer at all. Your browser sends only the host name of the page that linked to us, and we keep just that one-word channel. The address of the page you came from is never stored.
Cookies
We do not set tracking cookies. The site works without cookies.
Advertising
This site shows no ads. If that changes, this section will name the ad partner, explain its cookies and show a consent banner first.
Your rights (GDPR)
We operate from the EU and aim to comply with the GDPR. Because the tool collects no personal data, there is normally nothing personal we hold about you. Write to us at the address above with any request.
